Make something with bricks. On your own, or together.
Choose a scene, take its kit of parts and build on the empty plot. Any part can be any colour, and your build is saved as you go, so it's there when you come back.
How it works
-
A finite kit, enough to finish
Each scene comes with a fixed, counted set of parts: enough to build something you're pleased with on your own. When a part runs out, it's out, so where you put it matters.
-
Any colour, any change
Colour is never rationed: every part comes in every colour. Recolour, turn or take parts off whenever you like; a part you remove goes back into your kit.
-
Kept, then shown
Every change is saved on the server as you make it. Close the page, come back later, and your build is waiting.
Save a version to your own collection whenever you like, without pausing or changing the room. Publish an eligible saved version to the public showcase, where anyone can view it, save their own copy, and continue it in a new room — the original always stays exactly as it was.
Built together, in one shared room
Up to a couple of people share one room's inventory and construction at once. Everyone draws from the same kit — there's no separate allocation per person — so what one of you places, the other can also recolour, turn or remove.
- Leave a plan. Put a see-through suggestion where something could go, costing no stock and blocking nothing real. Anyone can build it, or mark it to draw the room's attention.
- Marks, not chat. Marking a plan briefly highlights it for everyone else, naming who marked it — a nudge, never a forced camera move or a message.
- Public or invite-only. Start a room anyone can discover and join, or one that only an accepted invitation opens. Still complete alone: solo building stays immediately usable, same as ever.
Scenes
Each scene has its own setting, plot and kit. This is the first.
About this project
Brick Commons is the working title of an independent student project for COMP4020 at the Australian National University. The project's README sets out what it means for this site to be good, and the references behind it.
